About MRH

Growing up on Long Island, my dad had a flower business. One of my biggest regrets as an adult, was not soaking up all his knowledge and spending more time in the greenhouse.

When the pandemic hit, I found myself collecting houseplants and before I knew it, I went from 3 to 100+ plants! I quickly discovered how much joy plants brought to my life, but a little voice in the back of my head reminded me that I didn’t have a green thumb. I was also aware that plant care could be overwhelming and intimidating. 

I learned a lot my first year of growing my plant collection. I realized that if I can have success with houseplants, just about anyone can. The most important part in choosing a plant is finding one that is compatible with your space and how much love you are willing to give it. It’s amazing how far a little light and water go!

In July of 2022, my family and I moved to beautiful Saint Augustine. Since then, I have had this vision of creating a local business that would allow me to share my love of plants, bring joy to people, enhance décor and immerse myself in this beautiful community I am fortunate enough to call home.

In March of 2024, I opened Modern Roots Home with the mission to bring plants into people’s lives through providing plant care and education with hand-picked, uniquely designed products. 

It is with greatest hopes that I bring others closer to connecting with beautiful Mother Nature. 

Our mission is to provide our customers with beautiful and unique home decor items that inspire them to connect with nature. We believe that a well-decorated home can have a positive impact on your mood and wellbeing.
